The kind of games politicians are used to playing, their professed interest for proper sports --- where sportsmanship is the dominating factor although competitive modern sports sometimes ignore it for lucre or fame --- is not likely to translate into their taking  the field even if it happened to be the lucrative IPL competition. Besides, their innate talents and bent of mind are only suitable for a vocation where intrigue, scheming and no-holds-barred approach come into play while trying to achieve their sole goal of winning power and pelf for themselves. Something, you’d agree, diametrically opposite to the spirit and ethos of genuine sports. Anyway, let’s hip hip hurray the politicians even if most of them are never likely to be a good sport in their public lives.

My dear friend-indeed garu,

U seem to be a frind indeed but not a friend in need. The need of the hour is money as all the players ar playing for moolah. What moolah can u offer to the politicians? The type of moolah going around in IPL is just peanuts for the politicians. Who is going to hold the auction and what prices will be set for the politicians.
I think u should change the acronym for ur proposed league as IPPL. The extra P is for peanuts.
Where will u get the umpires and match referees from? May be the anchors of all news channels would fit the bill for umpires.
The political analysts on various channels their tribe is increasing by the day will agree to be the match referees.
Will there be any fairplay award? Who is going to sponsor that? Fairplaying politicians may be an oxymoron. U left many gaps in ur wonderful story?
I'm ready to do my bit as a commentator or an expert depending upon the number of peanuts that u will offer.
Incidentally peanuts if u recollect form the favourite food of a particular species.
Kindly edit ur blog incorporating all these valuable(?) suggestions.
Lastly dont write a poem just because I offered my comments.
Ramarao.

What a hilarious idea. Loved reading this. But you know, I have a suspicion that the bad words our politicans use are far wose than those used by Harbhajan (Maki), Symmonds, Ponting, Hayden et al. So your idea will also go a long way in enriching our vocabulary.
Avinash
