Why not an Indian Political League for our politicians?
The much hyped IPLT20 is on show over the last few days, and appears to be a great success for all the good and bad reasons going by the crowd response, as seen in the TV. It was sight to behold, when the `Tormented ran over to hug and embrace the Tormentor’. I mean the running of Ponting towards Ishant Sharma when the latter took his first wicket on the inaugural match at Bengaluru (I think this is how the city is now spelt). It was only a few weeks ago down under, Ponting was made to dance and play monkey tricks facing Ishant Sharma. I am eagerly waiting for the match between Chennai Challengers and Mumbai Indians to see the flowing chemistry between our own Bhaji and Mathew Hayden. I will not be surprised if Hayden walks down to Harbhajan and compliments him for taking his wicket. The IPL has thrown a fantastic and friendly atmosphere among all the rivals in the game who were viewing each other as an enemy when playing for their respective countries. The tournament is a definite success on one count that is, bringing in harmony and friendship among all great players of the cricketing world. This has sown a seed of thought in my mind and I started questioning myself, whether such a harmony among our own politicians can be brought about in the Indian Scenario.
I start from my own State Tamilnadu. Both Mr Karunanidhi and Ms Jayalalitha can chose their own set of men/women to form a TN Political Team to play T20 matches. Care should however be taken that the chosen members are equal from both the supporters of the leaders as otherwise we will have an immediate problem. Mr Vaiko can be made the Coach for the TN team.
Moving on to the neighboring states, Mr Rajasekhara Reddy and Mr Chandrababu Naidu can form the AP team and Mr S.M.Krishna and Mr Yeduyuriappa the Karnataka team. Let Mr Kumarasamy be the coach of the Karnataka team and Mr T.Chandrasekara Rao the coach for the AP team. For Kerala, Mr Achuthanandan and Piranay Vijayan will form the team and Mr Oomen Chandy will be the ideal coach.
At the national level, Madam Gandhi and L.K. Advani can for the national team that can play against the State Teams in the league format. Ms Mayavati and Mulayam Singh will sort out the UP team. Ms Mamata Banerjee and Mr Buddhadev can form the
Having formed the teams as above, we face another important hurdle. Who will lead the teams? The rivalry for the leadership is so intense, and the only way out as I see, is to have two captains one for each session of the game. This should satisfy every body especially the main leaders of each team. Once the game really starts I am sure, we can see much better camaraderie among our political adversaries for one simple reason, that they should ensure the success of their team as otherwise they cannot go back to the respective knowledgeable cricket enthusiastic citizens in their states next time for VOTES.
